Africa’s agriculture is changing fast. Like many sectors, farming is embracing innovation to solve old problems in new ways. Today, with food security becoming more urgent and food safety more important than ever, many Kenyan farmers and agripreneurs are stepping up.
They’re not just looking for quick fixes—they’re bringing real solutions to the table. This is opening new doors for investment, especially in sustainable farming. At aak-GROW, we see sustainable farming not just as a project, but as a personal mission.
We’ve always worked to educate farmers on the safe and responsible use of pest control products. But we’ve gone further— encouraging them to adopt modern farming methods and technologies that boost both the quality and quantity of what they grow. One approach we support is the use
of Spray Service Providers (SSPs). These are trained and certified young men between 18 and 45 who help farmers safely apply pest control products. Because these products in their nature are poisonous and require caution when being used, SSPs are taught how to handle, mix, and spray them properly. They wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that meets international safety standards, ensuring they stay safe while working. At aak-GROW, we’re working hard to make these SSPs available in more parts of the country, so more farmers can benefit.
Another way we’re helping farmers take ownership is through technology in training. We’ve introduced Virtual Reality (VR) tools that make learning easier and more engaging. Since farming is hands-on work, it helps to learn visually through the CropLife app, which offers video tutorials and learning modules. With this, farmers can get a “one-on-one” learning
experience right from their phones or devices. We’re also thinking bigger with drone technology. While SSPs are ideal for many, some large-scale farmers need efficient and precise solutions. That’s where drones come in. In partnership with DJI Agriculture, we’re using drones to apply pest control products effectively and accurately on large and medium sized farms. Trained and licensed drone operators can cover more ground in less time while ensuring safety and precision.
Innovations like these are key to sustainable farming. But it’s more than just using new tools—it’s about taking responsibility. At aak-GROW, we’re proud to be part of a growing movement that believes in safe, smart, and sustainable farming. We’re not just promoting best practices; we’re helping farmers own their future—with better yields, safer methods, and stronger, greener food systems for Africa
